This year, I had the pleasure of being welcomed as artist in residence at the 4th edition of the Royan-Orgues Festival, whose crowning moment will be the world premiere of my piece Post Tenebras Lux for organ, SATB choir, brass quintet, percussion and quadraphonic electronics, at the closing concert on October 21 at 8:30 pm at Notre-Dame Church in Royan.
Commissioned by ADOR, Post Tenebras Lux will be performed by Masaki Shiozawa (organ), the Ars Nova ensemble (brass and percussion), the Ensemble vocal Coup de Chœur de La Rochelle, the Ensemble vocal du conservatoire de Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, Thierry Delacour (keyboard) and myself (electronics), under the direction of conductor Jérôme Pillement.
It is an immense privilege to be performed by such prestigious musicians in a church whose Boisseau organ is renowned worldwide, even if I must admit that the six-second reverberation of this imposing brutalist architectural work is a real challenge, both for the composition and for the quadraphonic diffusion.
Before this grand finale, six other events will also close my residency:
Tickets for the closing concert can be booked here: https://royan-orgues.fr/billetterie.
I would like to thank Emmanuelle Piaud and Sylvain Kuntzmann warmly for their trust, as well as ADOR and the Royan Atlantique Tourist Office for funding this residency and the associated commissions, with the support of SACEM and CNM.
